You will receive the support and encouragement of staff members who specialize in psychiatry.  The team members consist of an attending psychiatrist, psychology, nursing, social work, counseling, occupational therapy, activity therapy, and others area of expertise.  Because we are based at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, a full service medical/surgical hospital, we can address medical issues as well as emotional ones if needed. Suitable candidates for admission are patients 55 years of age and older; however, the Senior Behavioral Care Unit participates in better serving the needs of the mental health community by being a licensed and approved Baker Act receiving facility for those in need at any age.

Warm, Inviting Atmosphere:

The Senior Behavioral Care Center a 15-bed unit that provides a therapeutic environment for patients to begin their recovery.  The Center is a safe, closely supervised area located on the 2nd  floor of Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. The center provides a pleasant area for dining, laundry facilities, a comfortable community area, along with both private and semi-private bedrooms.

Spiritual Needs:

We believe that spiritual growth is an important part of the recovery process, and we offer several optional components to help patients draw on the powerful spiritual force present in their lives.

Goals:  Lasting Results:

Although our program is designed for those who can benefit from short-term psychiatric care, the length of stay on our unit depends on the needs of the patient.  Some patients come to us for only a few days to resolve a crisis while others may require a longer treatment period.

Our program is structured so that you may begin recovery and healing in a setting that fosters personal responsibility and teaches new skills.  Our focus is to help each patient move smoothly back into a healthy lifestyle.  At the same time, we strive to provide a firm foundation and the coping skills that will ensure long-term progress.  The patient’s entire treatment team meets bi- weekly to develop and adjust plans according to each patients needs.  Family involvement is strongly encouraged to further enhance the mental and physical well-being of the client. Once stabilized, the continuum of care continues to our outpatient Partial Hospitalization Program to reinforce or maintain the recovery progress patients have made.
