CONCERN FOR PEOPLE - Show concern for the dignity, self-worth, well-being, and contributions of all. Recognize the importance that each of us plays in providing the highest quality of service.
INTEGRITY- Doing what is right by being honest in all situations.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Your mental health is as important as your physical health. In fact, new research is showing us how closely the two are connected. Nearly half of all Americans have symptoms of a mental illness at some point in life. Seeking treatment for mental illness is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of strength and the first step on a path to recovery. So if it happens to you or someone close to you requiring inpatient services the Senior Behavioral Care Unit is an option for you. The Senior Behavioral Care Unit is a short term 15 bed inpatient secured unit designated for adults 55 and older who are in need of 24 hour care. Younger patients may be accepted with the approval of the medical director. We provide both private and semiprivate rooms.
Intensive short term therapy/counseling is provided with a multidisciplinary approach to care. Group and individual therapy is provided 7 days per week. Individual needs requiring occupational; nutritional, spiritual or other therapies are ordered by the physician as needed. Family members and caregivers are an integral part of the treatment program. The multidisciplinary professional mental health staff strives to exceed the needs of those seeking treatment. Through a compassionate approach to care, we ensure a warm and supportive environment. We believe that a highly structured, safe and secure environment contributes to recovery.
Referrals and Assessments
Referrals may be made by physicians, nurses, family members, and clergy; nursing and assisted living homes, social workers, law enforcement or others concerned about the welfare of an individual. Individuals may also inquire about the program on their own behalf. All patients are assessed by a psychiatrist and mental health professional as part of the admission process.
Confidential Assessments

The clinical staff at the Behavioral Health Services of Florida Hospital Zephyrhills offers confidential assessments for the purpose of determining the need for behavioral health services. Assessments are performed by qualified behavioral health professionals who, under physician direction, determine the need for treatment and provide referral for the most appropriate level of care. Based on the assessment, every effort is made to provide information and referral to the most appropriate treatment alternative available. The Behavioral Health Services at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills provides a continuum of care in promoting good mental health.
Discharge & Aftercare
The behavioral health staff, with your permission, will assist in arranging appointments with a local therapist, psychiatrist, and/or your family physician. This is in preparation for discharge back to the community or to a lower level of care, and to provide the appropriate follow-up needed for your continued good health.
