Recovering & Maintaining Optimum Health!

If you are one of the more than 60 million Americans who suffer from one or more cardiovascu lar diseases, have made it through a cardiac event or are at high risk for a problem, our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program can help.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills assists patients with heart problems in recovering and maintaining optimum health. This comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program is supervised by Cardiac Rehab specialists, under the direction of your physician. To assure your progress during rehabilitation, the structured program is divided into three phases, and each phase includes exercise, dietary counseling and health education.

Phase I: Inpatient Program
Phase I begins early during your hospitalization. It focuses on early ambulation and some activities of daily living. Educational programs are offered to answer all of your questions, and to help you turn good advice into a healthy manageable lifestyle. Topics include heart function, coronary artery disease, and activity for your heart. Lifestyle modification programs are also introduced to reduce risk factors secondary to poor nutrition, smoking, occupational demands, and stress.

Phase II: Outpatient Therapeutic Program
Phase II begins following your discharge from the hospital and after clearance from your doctor. Patients diagnosed with a heart attack, stable angina or coronary artery bypass graft come back to the hospital for monitored exercises.
This phase of cardiac rehabilitation is offered three times a week for one hour, for up to 12 weeks. Educational classes are also provided for yourself and family members.

Phase III: Exercise Maintenance Program
Phase III is designed to offer continued physical conditioning and maintenance. The program also focuses on prevention of complications related to heart disease.
